I must thank Chloe for sending me these great YELLOW stickers in the mail!! and yes, there are cockatoos everywhere here in Ottawa! (more like cuckoos!)
I have finally clued into the fact that my ISO is at 1600!! which would explain all the noise in my shots as of late. It was set to 1600 during my photo class a few weeks ago and I keep forgetting to switch back to something normal.....
typical...
Pet Peeve: people that "shake" the Magic 8 Ball making bubbles in the liquid making it hard to read.
for 12 hours!!! I have been sick as a dog!! Picked up a flu big somewhere in my travels. I thought it was food poisoning but after a trip to the doctor, it seems it is going around and should get better in a few days!!
The final result of this pic wasn't exactly what I was going for...but I kind of like it...
'm upside down and all of the blood is rushing to my brain....this was not as fun to take as I had initially anticipated!! ;))

I am not working this week but taking part in a "Conflict Resolution in the Workplace Management" course. So far it has been very interesting although I would like to "throttle" some of the people on my course...ummm....I am supposed to be learning about conflict resolution not causing it!!!
This is my Grandfather. I used to spend summers at his house playing and reading. He was a great man and it is only now that I appreciate that time I spent with him and regret the time that I didn't.
This is not a technically "great" photo (there is reflection in the picture I am holding) but it will have to do.
I actually think this picture is creepy. But I am too tired to redo it.
Started my first night of my Digital Photography class. Maybe I might actually learn something and then who knows??
Today is ASSIMILATION day...where everyone has to do the same pose. This weeks pose is hands on hips front shot. Well, since I just got out of the shower, why not???
Not happy with my facial expression in this one...I am beginning to think my frown line will become permanent soon! yep, this is my bathroom!
and finally done my day. After a good nights sleep I have been starting to feel better. I had an important interview this morning pertaining to a program I am applying for. This program, if I am accepted, will allow me to go to University full time and still maintain my salary. The interview went well and I am being endorsed for the program. There are still many more hoops to jump through before I finally get accepted though...so all I am doing is loosening my tie and not worrying about it...let the chips fall where they may!
I called in sick to work today after waking up with the symptoms of yet another cold! So very frustrating that I have been so susceptible to colds all winter! In any case I am missing a Flickr Ottawa Meet-up this evening! Very disappointed but didn't much feel like leaving the apartment this evening let alone take my 365 shot! I decided to get my DPS assignment done Ghetto Lighting.
Luckily today was a sunny day!! It is supposed to snow for the next few days!
I didn't want to be frowning, but the light was rather bright.
Buddhist Thought of the Day for Sat, 12 Jan 2008
2 days, 20 hours and 1 minute until I am finished work this week;
137 days, 10 hours and 59 minutes until I (possibly) run my first half marathon;
240 more SP to complete my 365 challenge;
270 days, 3 hours and 34 minutes until my birthday; and
351 Days 5 Hours and 37 minutes until Christmas...
I would like to find a balance between WORK and LIFE....where is the happy medium??
Me, Myself and I are in conflict...
This is my first attempt of trying "shutter priority" in a SP....I kind of like how this turned out....
Guilty of being cute and cuddly all by themselves but put them together and chaos can be expected! I am cat sitting for my best friend while she is away in Mexico sunning herself on the beach with an umbrella drink...yes, that is jealousy!
Some distinguishing character traits:
Corky aka "The Corkster"- He is the man amongst women. His name was derived from the fact he doesn't have a full tail but a little corkscrew tail that he wags like a dog when he is happy. He really is a big scaredy cat and is constantly getting put in his place by the females. He is constantly eating my plants and then puking. He is a puking machine, in fact he puked on my beautiful RED couch this morning....and his shit stinks!
Minette aka "The Old Girl" - This old girl is 14. She doesn't take any guff from either cat. She spends most of the day sleeping in the closet where they won't bother her. When she is picked up she squeaks like a squeeze toy and she snores in her sleep. She will not hesitate to lay down the law to the other cats if necessary and they are consequently scared of her.
Diva aka "The Diva"- She is Corky's sister and belongs to me. She is an instigator and loves to chase her brother around the apartment knocking things over. She is an attention whore even though she certainly gets enough of it. She sleeps at the end of the bed at my feet.
buy staying in my most comfortable bed. I am not hiding per se but spending a day to myself surrounded by lounging cats (I am cat sitting 2, so there are 3 presently in my bedroom with me!)
The past year has not been an easy one to say the least. I made it back from a tour in Afghanistan not physically harmed but emotionally "not the same" as I was before I went. I have been slowly walking the road to recovery.
On the positive side I have discovered a love and fascination with photography! This has been an outlet creatively and emotionally and most significantly through my 365 project I have learned to take life day by day and to not dwell on the past (of which I am doing only for this soliloquy). :) I have also made many new FLICKR friends and I am proud to be a part of such a creative community.
It is the positives and the negatives that combined make us who we are today as tough as they are to experience.
So friends, here is to new smiles, joys, and new challenges in 2008!
